Sale Day Three

Today we are going North of Sale, firstly to Stratford on the Avon, they have a week each year that they dedicate to William Shakespear. On our walk around we came across there new railway bridge.

Our next stop is Briagolong where mum had read there was a large horse (which she thought would be like the large orange, pineapple etc), but this is what we found.

Our next stop was Glenmaggie which has a large lake for watersports and a one lane bridge.

Our next stop was Fulham Gippsland Armed Forces Museum.

Sale

Today we are heading South to Loch Sport which is mainly holiday accommodation. On the way back we called into Paradise Beach (this is part of 90 mile beach) where dad managed to take a picture of mum,

Our next stop was Seaspray where we had a walk around and found hundreds of swans on a lake.

Lakes Entrance to Sale

Leaving Lakes Entrance we are heading to Paynesville and through to Raymond Island to see the Koala’s. This is going to involve a trip on the car ferry (a whole 7 minutes).

The ferry can carry 21 cars at one time and travels backwards and forwards every 15 minutes. It costs nothing for me, mum and dad.

Once we arrive on Raymond Island we embark on the ‘Koala walk’ which takes you through the trees where Koala’s live. We spotted twelve some of the pictures are below.

After travelling back on the ferry we travelled to Sale where we are staying for the next 3 days as a base and travelling out to different towns. Once we parked up we have set off for a walk towards the Sale Port, through to the Lakes and the Botanical Gardens.

We have come across “Sale Powder Magazine” this is where they kept the gunpowder in 1864 for the gold fields.

Lakes Entrance

20th September

Today we have woke up to sun and lighter winds. We are going to walk across the bridge to 90 mile beach and a walk to “The Entrance”, this is a 5km round trip and on the way we saw the following

When we reached “The Entrance” the tide was coming in and there were hundreds of birds catching fish and then popped up a lot of Australian Fur seals.

On the walk there where a lot of steps and we got to a slope which when me and dad stepped on it did not move apparently it wasn’t an escalator.

Orbost to Lakes Entrance

After mum finished in the Bank getting some $1 coins (so we could do some more washing) we left Orbost to travel the 70kM to Lakes Entrance where we are camped up on the sports ground next to one of the lakes for the next 3 days.

We have setup Ernie and have now gone to the beach where i am running free and chasing around mum and dad. The sun is out and not a cloud in the sky but it is still windy.

Marlo to Orbost

After a good nights sleep i got dad up to take me for my morning walk (6:45), the sun was actually up so i must have slept in.

Marlo is where the Snowy River meets the Ocean and is a very large river mouth. Mum took me for a walk while dad packed up the caravan, then we set off to Orbost where we took a walk along the Snowy River where there are different plaques about the repair of the river banks and the animals to be found around the water.

Eden to Mallacoota

After 13 days and 2 Hours we have finally reached our furthest point east in Victoria, Mallacoota. We are camped overlooking The Bottom Lake and Goat Island, (not seen any goats yet). We are staying here for two nights but it is very windy (55km) and cool (12 Degrees day, 2 Degrees at Night).

We have been for several walks already and i have seen three Koala’s, one with baby, a kangaroo and numerous birds. The campsite has about 50 campers at present but has a total of 710 sites, of which are already booked for Christmas. We are on site 139 can you find it on the map ? (Hint it’s one of the blue one’s).

Note from Ernie

I finally got my picture taken and published even though i am hiding in the trees.

Mum has just taken me for another walk while dad writes this blog for me as my paws are a bit big for the keys.

Eden (Sunday Morning)

We have had a wild night of wind and heavy rain between 12:00 & 03:00 but it had stopped raining when i got dad up at 06:00 to go for my walk. The waves are rolling in with white caps and the sky is starting to clear.

Well back from my walk having my breakfast before we pack up to move on. Oops ! just started to rain again ah well looks like dad will get wet packing up.
